The Vagina Monologue short film by Elite Daily receives a 2016 NY Emmy nomination!

The Vagina monologues

Hailed by The New York Times as "funny" and "poignant", and by the Daily News as "intelligent" and "courageous," The Vagina Monologues dives into the mystery, humor, pain, power, wisdom, outrage and excitement buried in women’s experiences. This benefit production, which will be performed at women's and men's correctional and re-entry facilities across NY state, features a cast of actors, activists and formerly incarcerated women.

The first performance will take place at Taconic Correctional Facility, followed by The Fortune Society, Cherry Lane Theatre, Edgecombe Residential Treatment Facility, and Queensboro Correctional Facility. Mightee Shero Production's tour of The Vagina Monologues is presented as part of V-Day’s 2016 campaign ONE BILLION RISING FOR JUSTICE, a global call for women survivors of violence and those who love them to gather safely in places where they are entitled to justice.

V-Day Taconic 2016 is directed by Ira Kip (The 6 Project, Culture Project and 365 Days/Plays, The Public Theater), and features an ensemble of Broadway/TV actors and community activists including Belinda Allyn, Erica Camarano, Rhonda Covington, Julia Crockett, Dana Levinson, Elizabeth Mackintosh, Sharon Richardson, Vanda Seward, Lin Tucci, and Tanya Wright.
